Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony for Trumpet & Piano

$8.95

Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is one of the most recognizable pieces of music ever written. With numerous appearances in popular culture including movies, television, rock, and disco, it stands alone as the most popular of Beethoven’s nine symphonies.

This special treat will enable musicians of all ages to experience the genius of Beethoven’s most significant work as a soloist or as an ensemble with assorted instrumentation.

This arrangement is written for trumpet and piano accompaniment in accommodating keys for trumpet, flute, violin, clarinet, alto sax, and trombone. Therefore, it could be played as a solo as originally intended or in unison as a group of any combination.

In either case, this well-known Beethoven Masterpiece is a welcomed addition to our strong instrumental catalog and most recent addition to the celebrated audition library of the NYSSMA organization!

Beethoven’s Fifth was first performed in Vienna in 1808 but was not initially recognized as an innovative piece of music. This was mostly due to poor conditions at this first performance that included a frigidly cold theater and a poorly prepared orchestra. Even though the debut left critics with mixed opinions, many people soon realized it was unlike anything they had ever heard before.

Robert Schumann, a German composer & influential music critic wrote, “This symphony invariably wields its power over men of every age like those great phenomena of nature. This symphony, too, will be heard in future centuries, nay, as long as music and the world exist.”
