Appassionata Sonata • The Complete Original

$14.95

For over two hundred years, the genius of Ludwig van Beethoven has provided a standard of excellence in solo piano compositions and our goal is to create a library of his greatest sonatas. We have chosen the Moonlight, Pathetique, Appassionata, Waldstein, and Les Adieux as the five most significant works ever written for concert piano.

These “originals” are in pure form as we have gone to great lengths and much research to preserve the authenticity of each one of them. Every sonata is complete and unedited with all three movements, Waldstein having four, are identical to Ludwig’s penned manuscripts.

The performance notes and biographical substance is unprecedented, adding significant educational value. Engraved with only 4 systems a page on heavy cream stock, therefore reading them is quite pleasing to the eyes making practice, study, and performance more enjoyable.

The Appassionata, Sonata in F Minor, Opus 57, can be described as percussive drama similar to the turbulence of this time in Ludwig’s life.

The Appassionata, Sonata in F Minor, Opus 57 was dedicated to Count Franz Brunsvik, completed in 1805 and published in 1807 by the Bureau des Arts et d’Industrie. The title was added by the publisher and is quite appropriate for this turbulent and dramatic work. It is characterized by driving rhythms, followed by a slow movement, and culminating in a relentlessly powerful finale.

One stormy evening, Beethoven clutched his original manuscript while he fled from a heated argument with Prince Lichnowsky and this actual water-marked manuscript is now housed in the world-renowned Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.

Enjoy this “Complete Original” Masterpiece recorded by the incredibly talented Concert Pianist, Craig Stevens.
